Rules and recommendations for submissions
Please review all current information in the Product Guide about your company and products. Pay
special attention to the correct use of your product and company names. (For example, is your
company name part of your product name?)
General rules and recommendations for product and company information
- Review the information in
Criteria for inclusion of products in the KMconnection Knowledge Management Product Guide.
Not all products qualify, according to our definition of "knowledge management."
- Descriptions of companies and products are limited to 500 words each. Entries longer than 500
words will be truncated arbitrarily.
- Use those 500 words as effectively as possible.
- Help readers understand the functionality, benefits, and primary applications of your
products.
- Use information in company pages to position your company appropriately for a broad
audience.
- Provide a succinct, compelling text description that gets the right people to your Web site
as fast as possible.
- REVIEW the categorization of your products regularly. We are continuously refining our categorization and adding new categories. (See below, Categorization of your products.)
- Use plain ASCII text (best choice) or simple HTML markup. (No word-processor files! We won't even open them because of the risk of viruses.) No HTML style sheets. No special fonts or font sizes. No frames. No
multi-column formatting using HTML tables. No features that are not widely supported by current
browsers. We won't change your content, but we may strip out complex formatting.
- Do not submit images of any kind. We don't have sufficient disk space to support images and we
cannot spend time modifying markup of images.
- Product and company names are assumed to be the property of the vendor or approved for use by
the vendor. We use standard publishing practices regarding trademarks and other proprietary terms:
- We don't use symbols for trademarks or registered trademarks in our lists of
companies or products and in the titles of HTML pages.
- However, we do retain trademark symbols in any text you submit to us.
Submitting your additions and changes
- Be sure to clearly identify the product to which each description applies.
- We accept a maximum of five (5) products per vendor. Choose the products you feel are most
representative of your knowledge-management offerings.
- We encourage you to keep your entries up to date, but we limit frequency of updates to once
per month per vendor.
- Email your new content or recommended changes to
pmurray@KMconnection.com.
Categorization of your products
Your assistance in appropriate functional categorization of your product(s) will be greatly
appreciated. We've taken a first pass at the process, but we will be categorizing as many as 200
products in a market that is growing and changing rapidly. Our categorization schema will evolve.
Please recommend no more than five (5) categories for each product. See Functional categories (all) for the current list of categories, in
hierarchical context. Choose the categories that are most appropriate.
Please recommend new categories, if you feel the current categories are inadequate. Please recommend articles and other resources that provide additional third-party categorizations of your products. We will
review all recommendations, but we reserve the right to accept or reject all recommendations.
Suggestions for synonyms are also much appreciated.
The Knowledge Management Connection reserves the right to reject
information it deems inappropriate or otherwise unsuitable, for any reason and without
explanation.
Thank you for your assistance in creating the Web's best resource for finding knowledge
management tools. We hope it will serve you well.
